Hey Mr. MRA, you’re not helping, so shut up.

There are times, when all the good intentions in the world count for nothing. When everything a person says or does only makes matters worse, and not better, and each attempt at recovery plummets them farther and farther into the hole.

This is one of those times for the so-called Men’s Rights Advocates of the worlds(with the cravat that they don’t actually have good intentions.)

The main problem with these wannabe saviours of all things masculine is usually a toss up. Is it their rampant misogyny? Or more specifically their rape-apologetics? Or perhaps the fact that they are either intentionally, or unintentionally, harming the very group they claim to speak for.

Men’s Rights Advocates, or “MRA”s  as they are often called, have done more damage to the ability of men everywhere to actually seek justice. They have made it seemingly impossible for a father with an unfair custody trial, or an abused husband, or a male rape victim to tell there story in an open way.

They have stolen the voice of men, and turned it against their fellow man, and anyone who might disagree with them.

They have become a force fighting for the rapist, the abuser, and the harasser.

They’ve done it all with our silent consent.

As you all probably know, I’m a guy. And I’m done being a guy who condones MRA behaviour with silence.

The time has come for the rest of us men. The ones who don’t spend our days crying about how oppressed we are by women. The ones who think it’s ok to protest against someone who claims children enjoy incest, and that rape is “fun”…

There has been a large group of incredibly brave women fighting the MRAs, but my question is, where are the men? Why are we letting these people speak for us?

Feminism has done far more for my rights as a man than any group of MRAs, and I think its time we told them to sit down, and shut up.  They aren’t helping. They aren’t even trying. They are clinging to some dream of days gone by where they had even more privilege than they do now, and they are making it seem like ALL men are like that.

If we don’t stand up to them… we aren’t any better.
